DERBY AND EGG HUNT

Two Whoppers!!!

This was a very special weekend for the residents of Glenhaven Lakes.  The weather was definitely “Chamber of Commerce” quality.  The temperature was over 60 degrees for the first time in the past 6 months.  All the fishermen (and women) as you can see caught fish.  A good time was had by all.    The Easter egg hunt was also a resounding success.  We were even blessed by a visit of the Easter Bunny!  These events convince me beyond all doubt that Glenhaven Lakes is the best place to raise a family, experience the fun and togetherness of community.

NATIVE PLANTS & TROUT !!!

Nisqualley Trout Farm
Nancy Olsen & Molly Lynch

There is a lot of activity to report in this chapter.  Our first event the “Native Plant Seminar”  was a resounding success.  I was a bit concerned about how many people might attend — particularly when I was calling my friends, only to find that most were on vacation.  You cannot blame people for going somewhere else in the winters here.  this has been a dreadful winter and spring.

What’s First ??? – Run for the border!

When I say run for the border, the border I mean is the one at your shoreline.  I did not mean the Canadian border, unless you are willing to deport their geese and return them. :)   As we all know, Reed Lake, if left to nature to fix, will turn into a bog.  This is the way of nature.  So, where do we start?  How can we stop the natural events that come to all neglected lakes?  What do we do?  Well let’s see what we can really do to fix this.

“REEDERS” Is the name for the committee members

A variety of names were offered up for consideration.  The “Lakers” was eliminated for obvious reasons.  The Algae Seekers Society was shot down because it really did not look to good abbreviated on a T-Shirt.  The most popular name was “Reeders”  So, that’s what we will call ourselves.  Reed Lake is in for an exciting adventure this next year.  Currently, we have fourteen members currently  …. with the need for many more. GLENHAVEN LAKES – The Lake Committee

The idea of Glenhaven Lakes having a lake committee is not new.  There have been many committees over the years. Unlike the lake, these committees come and go.  One thing for sure is that the lake will outlive us all.

There is one constant that I have come to appreciate.  There will always be people that have an appreciation of nature and are willing to go the extra mile to keep it pure and pristine. Continue reading
